Bye Felicia! 4 Signs it’s Time to Let a Friendship Go

We’ve heard the uncanny term, “Bye Felicia!”

The phrase 'Bye, Felicia' comes from the 1995 American crime comedy film Friday. According to Ice Cube, who starred and co-wrote the script, 'Bye, Felicia' is the phrase to get anyone out of your face (Metro UK).

According to Dictionary.com, “It is a dismissive term which can be used in a number of different contexts. Most simply and frequently, it is used as a cold way to bid someone a less-than-fond farewell.”

Ouch...

But what happens if this is the best way to describe the best thing to do when your friend, your roll dog, your ace is not serving you or you life well?

Here are four signs that it may be time to let a friendship go:

Drama, Drama, Drama

Every time you go out.

Every time you are on the phone.

There is an Armageddon like saga going on in their life.

From breakups to the job to their other friends to their neighbors, everything is always surrounded by large doses of negativity about every situation or scenario as if the world is coming to an end.

They may even be spiritual calling it, “The Devil,” or “The Enemy,” trying to always knock them off their square instead of taking accountability for their larger role in the matter.

Bye Felicia!

Gossip Galore

If you notice that they have nothing, I mean nothing good to say about anyone and swear up and down you are an angel, beware.

If the first thing that comes out of their mouth about someone could be considered libel, beware.

Gossip doesn’t end with you. And be weary of people who are open to discuss personal matters about someone else that does not involve you.

Gossip is actually bad for your health and if you hang out with someone who tends to gossip a lot, you may find yourself picking up on those unhealthy habits.

Bye Felicia!

Lots of Blind Spots: Lacking Drive, Vision and Purpose

If you asked your friend where they saw themselves five years from now and what is it that they want out of life and they can’t give you a clear concise answer?

It’s time to farewell.

People who lack vision, can have a lot of blind spots in their own life. They could very well be driving in lanes of circumstances without looking to see if it causes a crash in their life. They are someone whose a victim of circumstances versus the hero of their own destiny.

Who wants to ride with someone whose not driving with purpose?

Bye Felicia!

Avoidance

Do you find yourself purposely avoiding them out of concern for unhealthy or unproductive attachments in your own life?

It is common to put your social life on hold when you have a focus or task in mind to complete.

However it is another matter when you tip toe around a person to avoid interaction.

Purposely deflecting their calls and creating excuses to not hang out could be an indicator it’s best to cut ties.

Bye Felicia!
